Optical assistants are usually the first point of contact for customers. They welcome customers into the store, carry out administrative duties and help customers select the correct frames and lenses for their prescription.

Duties

• Quotations and Invoicing
• Explain quotation and or products to patients
• Receiving patients and ensure that all their needs are met
• Weekly Postings
• Sending Weekly and Monthly reports
• Check Lab orders statutes daily/weekly
• Helping clients choose frames
• Understanding the host’s duties as you may fill in for that person from time to time
• Make sure frame displays are clean, fully stock and stock is aligned
• Monthly stock take
• Adding all supplier invoices to Dropbox weekly. Make sure invoice is paid before adding
• Work on the age analyses on a weekly basis follow up on outstanding payments
• Follow up pending jobs
• Restock contact lens trial sets
• Make sure practice look and feel is up to standard according to check list
